In New York, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham.

“We are very grateful to you personally, to your entire country, your great nation. We have strong and very warm ties between our peoples. This is important. Thank you for your support and for all the packages. From all our soldiers, our deepest respect to your industry for the Storm Shadows. It’s an absolutely great, unique instrument for defending,” the Head of State said.
The leaders had a detailed discussion on security, the protection of Ukrainians, preparations for winter, and current diplomatic opportunities. The President noted the UK’s steadfast support for Ukraine’s energy sector, including a new contribution that Ukraine particularly appreciates as winter approaches.
“We will make a contribution around energy infrastructure, but there will be a further contribution that we will finalize in the coming weeks,” Andy Burnham said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is in constant communication with its partners about finding additional air defense capabilities.

“Our intelligence is now reporting that Russia is preparing a new massive attack against Ukraine. When Ukrainians are living every day under the threat of missile and drone strikes, lifting sanctions is out of the question. The Prime Minister and I see this eye to eye: as long as the war continues, sanctions must remain in place and be strengthened,” the Head of State said.
Andy Burnham, for his part, said that the UK is working with all its partners to find ways to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
“There are some innovative new solutions coming from the UK companies, smaller ones, much more low-cost, which may be helpful, and we'll keep working on that issue with you,” the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom assured.
