President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Eisuke Mori.
The Head of State thanked Japan for its consistent support for Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
“We highly value Japan’s humanitarian, energy, and political support. Since Japan assumed the G7 Presidency, it has consistently supported Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and has always stood up for Ukraine. I want to thank you and your people for this,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized that Japan has always strongly condemned the aggression by Russia’s head against Ukraine and strongly condemned his visit to the Kuril Islands.
“In this regard, we, of course, support Japan and support your sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the Head of State noted.
Eisuke Mori thanked Ukraine for supporting Japan’s territorial integrity.
“For my part, I want to assure you once again that Japan always supports Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence,” the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan said.
Eisuke Mori recalled that in 2022, the Japanese parliament supported a resolution condemning Russia’s attempts to violate Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
“That is why we came here, to Ukraine, to once again demonstrate our position as the Japanese Parliament: that all parties, regardless of their political views, support Ukraine and will continue to support Ukraine,” he stressed.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately noted Japan’s decision to provide non-lethal defense assistance, including its participation in the PURL initiative.
The President invited Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi to visit Ukraine.
The Head of State and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan discussed energy support for Ukraine ahead of the winter season, as well as defense and energy cooperation.
The President presented the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan with the Order of Merit, I class.
