President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree providing humanitarian aid to the Italian Republic.

The document stipulates that a team of Ukrainian doctors will depart to Italy to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic and share experience. Some doctors will be chosen by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, others by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“Ukrainian specialists will gain invaluable experience before the peak of the disease in our country. And they will come back when they are most needed at home. There is nothing to replace this experience. In the meantime, we will step forward in the treatment of COVID-19 and have specialists who will study various cases of treatment in Italy,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

Ukraine will ensure payment and protection to doctors and the Italian party will provide them with accommodation and food.

“Doctors will have the best protection, all special means: the most reliable protective suits, glasses, enough gloves, masks. This is mutual assistance, as Italy will also provide its assistance. We are holding coordination on this matter,” the Head of State said.

In addition, medical alcohol will be delivered to Italy next week, the volume of which will be determined taking into account the needs of the domestic Ukrainian market.
