On the Day of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Air Force Command and leadership of the Ministry of Defense and appointed Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko as Commander of the Air Force.
The Head of State congratulated those present on the occasion and expressed gratitude for their daily defense of Ukraine’s skies.
"Today, our people have the opportunity to live. Families are being formed, children are being born. Children have the opportunity to study. All of this is thanks to the protection of the skies, despite constant attacks by drones, missiles, and aircraft," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President heard a report on the implementation by the Air Force of the 20-year development strategy of Ukraine’s military aviation, along with the steps that must be taken. The goal of this strategy is to create a modern aviation component of Ukraine’s Defense Forces – one that will be a de facto part of NATO’s forces and among the strongest in Europe.
There was also a report on the results of using aviation equipment to repel Russian attacks – in particular, aircraft of Western origin provided by Ukraine’s partners. During the meeting, priorities were set for the integration of foreign equipment into the Defense Forces and for training personnel to operate it.
