President Held Phone Call with UN Secretary-General

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and António Guterres discussed the summit of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly Session, as well as the resolution Ukraine is preparing for the General Assembly. Our country counts on the world’s support for the need to return all Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. Ukraine will present the draft resolution this year, and work continues with other countries to ensure support.

The conversation also covered the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, currently occupied by Russian forces. The President emphasized that the plant is now experiencing its longest blackout yet – on the seventh day, it remains cut off from power, with the electrical grid destroyed by shelling. It is crucial for the world to be aware of the potential consequences. The Head of State stressed that Ukraine expects an appropriate international response.

They also discussed the situation in Gaza and the initiative by U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at establishing peace. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that this is a strong initiative and that Ukraine is ready to contribute to ensuring the proposals succeed.
