President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney.
“I thank you, your team, and the people of Canada for your strong support. We truly have strong allies and the Prime Minister’s significant personal engagement in supporting Ukraine,” the Head of State noted.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that during the G7–Ukraine meeting, partners supported messages on strengthening energy assistance, supplying missiles for Patriot systems, and licensing arrangements to increase production.
“And also everyone understands – and I thank Mark for his strong position, which was clearly expressed during our meeting – that Russia is not winning. Everyone understands this. It is good that everyone recognizes that Russia is not winning, and that we must force Putin to end this war. This is very important,” the President emphasized.
The Head of State informed the Prime Minister about recent Russian attacks and changes on the frontline in Ukraine’s favor.
The Prime Minister of Canada condemned Russia’s strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which is another symbol of the brutality of the Putin regime. Mark Carney commended the courage and resilience of Ukrainians who are standing up to the aggressor.
“Ukraine will win. It is just a question of time. It is just a question of how much senseless slaughter Russia perpetrates. And what we see today is G7 unity – unity in support of you and in moving forward,” he said.
The leaders discussed formats for defense cooperation and Canada’s participation in financing the production of Ukrainian drones under the Danish model.
Particular attention was paid to increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, particularly on its energy and financial sectors, and on the shadow fleet. Mark Carney announced that Canada is introducing a new sanctions package against more than 160 entities linked to Russia’s shadow fleet.
They also discussed cooperation in the energy sector. The President thanked Canada for its contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The Prime Minister noted that Canada will continue to provide Ukraine with energy assistance and support for recovery.
