In Oslo, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre.
The Head of State expressed his condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway. The President noted that it is important for him to attend the farewell ceremony on September 9, as Ukraine greatly values all the support from the royal family and the Norwegian people.

First and foremost, the meeting focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses. Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed the Prime Minister on our need for interceptor missiles, primarily for Patriot systems. Ukraine is counting on support from Norway, including through the PURL mechanism, where Norway is the leading contributor. In addition, further work on the FREYJA anti-ballistic program is important. The leaders discussed the results achieved so far and agreed on the next steps.
The meeting also focused in depth on preparing Ukraine for the winter. Last year, Norway provided substantial energy assistance to Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Jonas Gahr Støre discussed Ukraine’s needs and Norway’s ability to provide the necessary support this year as well.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Norway also coordinated diplomatic steps for the near future.
