President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to discuss our country’s European integration, the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, and the functioning of anti-corruption infrastructure.
In particular, the conversation focused on the bill that guarantees the independence and effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies. The Head of State thanked the European Commission for the provided expertise. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ursula von der Leyen share the same vision: it is important that the bill be adopted without delay, as early as next week.
The President informed that Ukraine is continuing its reform efforts to receive financial assistance under the Ukraine Facility mechanism. Today, he signed laws on ARMA reform and factoring. Ursula von der Leyen noted Ukraine’s progress in meeting the relevant indicators.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the European Union for adopting the 18th package of sanctions against Russia, especially for lowering the price cap on Russian oil to USD 47.60 per barrel. Ukraine continues synchronizing European sanctions — all 18 packages are now in force in our state.
The leaders also discussed Ukraine’s European integration path and the efforts needed to open the first negotiating cluster. Both sides agreed to work as swiftly as possible in this direction.
