President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The Head of State thanked the President of Azerbaijan for assisting in the evacuation of Ukrainians from Iran, for humanitarian aid, and for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine will always support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as well.
On behalf of all Ukrainians, the President expressed solidarity with the Azerbaijani people and condolences over the brutal detention of Azerbaijani citizens and the killing of the Safarov brothers in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Ilham Aliyev shared details that have already been established. They once again demonstrate the hatred, chauvinism, and cynicism of Russians. The President of Azerbaijan thanked Ukraine and the Ukrainian people for their support.
The parties also discussed Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression, joint steps with international partners to end the war, and the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan in the energy sector. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ilham Aliyev agreed to instruct their teams to hold a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation later this month.
The Head of State invited the President of Azerbaijan to visit Ukraine.
