President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Finland Discussed Work to Develop European Anti-Ballistic Capabilities and Preparation of a Drone Deal

Ahead of the Ukraine – Nordic-Baltic Summit in Tallinn, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo.

“We thank you, your team, and all the Finnish people for your support. Above all, for all the military packages – this helps very much,” the Head of State said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Petteri Orpo discussed the work in Europe to develop anti-ballistic defense capabilities. The President spoke about the work already done with partners.

They also discussed the teams’ work to prepare an agreement in the Drone Deal format. Ukraine submitted the relevant draft to the Government of Finland in May.

The Head of State outlined the needs for strengthening air defense and thanked Finland for its contributions to the PURL initiative. Ukraine is counting on continued support and is grateful to Finland for its readiness to make new contributions.

They also discussed security challenges in the region and possible ways to counter the threats Russia creates for European countries.

Special attention was given to diplomatic work to achieve a dignified peace. The President informed the Prime Minister about negotiations and communication with the American side and European leaders.

Petteri Orpo assured Ukraine of Finland’s support, including on its path to membership in the European Union. He emphasized that Finland supports the opening of all six negotiating clusters and is ready to facilitate this on its part.

The Prime Minister of Finland also informed the President about the work of the Shelter Coalition, partners’ participation in it, relevant contributions, and further implementation.
