President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, who visited Ukraine for the first time since taking office.
The Head of State expressed gratitude for the support of Ukraine during the full-scale Russian invasion, in particular for assisting Ukrainians who have found temporary refuge in Moldova.
“Your political support is extremely important. We are grateful for your backing of our territorial integrity and sovereignty. I believe we share a common vision for our future EU membership, and I hope we will walk this path together,” the President emphasized.
The meeting focused in particular on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine and Moldova, especially the consequences of Russian strikes, which have also caused power outages in several Moldovan cities. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Alexandru Munteanu discussed responding to Russian threats and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
Moldova’s Prime Minister assured continued support and announced the government’s decision to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, including generators and medicines.
Future EU membership for Ukraine and Moldova was also a key topic of discussion. The sides spoke about the next joint steps and the importance of opening negotiation clusters simultaneously.
Additionally, they discussed joint projects in the economy, defense production, as well as in transport and infrastructure.
