In Kananaskis, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to align their positions in pursuit of a just and lasting peace.
The Head of State emphasized Ukraine’s urgent need to strengthen its air defense – particularly in terms of air defense systems and the missiles they require. This is a top priority, as Russia continues to increase the number of weapons used in its attacks and inflict increasingly insidious strikes on civilians.
President Zelenskyy noted that Russia’s current actions clearly demonstrate one thing: Moscow has no intention of ending the war. That is why the world must impose strong and severe sanctions against Russia that will force it toward a just and lasting peace.
During the meeting, the leaders focused on identifying the types of sanctions needed to force Russia to stop the war. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the importance of coordinating these measures across all G7 countries and targeting Russia’s energy and banking sectors, shadow fleet and military-industrial complex.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Keir Starmer also discussed formats of practical solutions within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing and joint projects for domestic weapons production.
Additionally, the President and Prime Minister touched on the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague, its agenda, and the specific outcomes that are important to achieve as a result of the meeting.
