The Head of State thanked Slovakia for the strong support of Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale invasion of Russia. He highly appreciated the efforts of the President and the country's government to consolidate international support for Ukraine, as well as comprehensive assistance to Ukrainians who arrived in the Slovak Republic in search of refuge from the war.
"We are grateful for the support of our people. We will never forget this," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President informed Slovakian government officials about the consequences of Russia's massive missile attacks on civilian energy infrastructure facilities and about the help Ukraine needs to restore energy supplies.
He said that Ukraine is waiting for the recognition of the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism by EU member states at the national level, as the European Parliament recently did. The importance of the speedy approval of the 9th package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation was also emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy highly appreciated the significant military assistance from Slovakia. Areas of further cooperation with the Slovak Republic were discussed in order to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, train Ukrainian servicemen and facilitate demining of de-occupied territories.
Separately, the Head of State thanked Slovakia for its active support of the European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of our country.
"We count on Bratislava's assistance in Ukraine's acquisition of full membership in the EU as soon as possible," the President noted.
