President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu of the current situation in Donbas and the steps taken for a peaceful settlement.
"It's a very difficult and very long process. Yesterday, unfortunately, we suffered one combat loss - this is our Private First Class Oleh Vitaliyovych Andriyenko. I would like to express sincere condolences to his family, relatives and brothers-in-arms," the Ukrainian President said in a statement following a meeting with the President of Moldova.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he and Maia Sandu had also discussed the situation in the Transnistria region of Moldova and exchanged views on further steps regarding Transnistria, in particular, given Ukraine's mediating role in the "5+2" format.
"Once again, I would like to emphasize that Ukraine's position on the Transnistrian settlement is unchanged: we firmly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders," he said.
Maia Sandu noted that she and the President of Ukraine had thoroughly discussed security issues, focused on challenges and threats affecting both national and regional security.
"In this context, we reaffirmed our mutual and firm support for a peaceful resolution of conflicts based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states within internationally recognized borders," the President of Moldova said.
Maia Sandu stressed that the Republic of Moldova strongly and unconditionally supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
