President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the delegation of the international parliamentary network United for Ukraine (U4U).
The Head of State thanked the representatives of United for Ukraine for their consistent political support for Ukraine during the war.
“We are counting on your support after the war as well. We hope that peace will come as soon as possible. But not everything depends only on us, on Europe, and on Ukraine. In any case, we need a just and lasting peace. We will also welcome the participation of all your countries in the reconstruction of our state,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President noted that a united voice and a common position in Europe are of particular importance now. Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the support of Ukraine on its path toward membership in the European Union. The parties discussed mechanisms for opening the first negotiating cluster this year. The parliamentarians stressed that Ukraine must become a member of the European Union.
Among the key topics of the meeting were security guarantees for Ukraine. The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine, together with its partners in European countries and the United States, is working on the architecture of security guarantees. Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of defense support for Ukraine, joint weapons production – including drones – technology sharing, and the presence of a reassurance force from partner countries on land, in the air, and at sea.
They also discussed the results of the President’s recent meeting with other European leaders and the President of the United States in Washington. The Head of State noted that Ukraine is ready for different formats of negotiations to achieve peace – both in bilateral and trilateral formats at the level of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.
Additionally, the parties discussed mechanisms for using frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s reconstruction.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the parliaments of Austria, Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and the European Parliament.
