President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with the principal and teachers of a school that Russia struck with a “shahed” this morning. The strike caused a fire, partially destroyed a wall of the building, and damaged windows and doors.
School Principal Valentyna Chorna and Head of the Solomyanskyi District State Administration Serhii Movenko showed the Head of State the damage and the school shelter, where more than 100 children and over 60 teachers were during the attack. Thanks to this, no one was injured. The school plans to resume in-person classes on Monday, October 5. Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the team of the Office of the President, the Solomyanskyi District State Administration, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to ensure the school’s prompt restoration and energy independence.
“Thank you for your work, which, unfortunately, has undoubtedly become dangerous because of the war. Thank you very much for getting the children to safety and ensuring they were in the bomb shelter. Everyone is alive, thank God,” the President said during his conversation with the teachers.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that work is ongoing to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and increase the production of interceptors against jet-powered “shaheds.”
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression, 334 educational institutions have been damaged in Kyiv, including 165 schools and 134 kindergartens.
