In Madrid, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Spanish parliamentarians, led by the Speaker of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, and the President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán.
The Head of State expressed his gratitude to both chambers of the Cortes Generales for their support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The key topic of discussion was defense support for Ukraine and strengthening air defense. The President noted Spain’s participation in the PURL initiative and highlighted that Ukraine looks forward to additional contributions.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also briefed the parliamentarians on the defense agreements concluded today between Ukraine and Spain. The President emphasized Ukraine’s interest in joint projects with Spanish companies. According to the Head of State, such cooperation will significantly enhance the protection not only of Ukraine and Spain but of all of Europe.
In addition, the meeting addressed potential mechanisms for using frozen Russian assets to our country’s benefit and addressing Ukraine’s energy security needs.
