President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Gideon Sa'ar, who arrived in Ukraine on a visit.
“Thank you for your visit. It is a signal of support for our country, especially during wartime, in these difficult times. We are grateful for your support of Ukraine and Ukrainians,” the Head of State emphasized.
Gideon Sa’ar commended the resilience of the Ukrainian people in their struggle against Russian aggression and stressed that Israel is interested in strengthening its relations with Ukraine.
“We know Ukraine is facing a challenging time during this war. We are friends. We came to strengthen our relations in all aspects. I hope we will strengthen these relations. And that is also important to us,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
The meeting focused on economic and defense cooperation. In particular, the parties discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and opportunities for joint weapons production.
Special attention was given to sanctions against Russia and the importance of increasing pressure on the Russian Federation.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Gideon Sa’ar also discussed humanitarian support. The President expressed gratitude for Israel’s decision to provide USD 1.2 million in assistance to Ukraine, which will include support for water supply systems in the southern regions; he also highlighted the need for humanitarian demining equipment.
