In the Zaporizhzhia region, at the command post of the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Velykyi Luh,” which is part of the 17th Corps defending the Orikhiv direction, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the warriors and presented them with state awards.
The Head of State listened to a report from Brigade Commander Volodymyr Polishchuk on the operational situation in the sector, enemy activity, and losses among the occupiers.
The President also spoke with battalion commanders about decisions required to strengthen the defense of the Orikhiv direction: staffing, certain types of weapons and equipment, including light-armored vehicles, and equipping units with electronic warfare systems. There was also a separate discussion on developing unmanned systems units and the steps needed to scale up the brigade’s successful experience in using ground robotic platforms to evacuate the wounded.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the warriors for their service and presented them with state awards.
“I have the honor of being here today to award the warriors of the 65th Brigade. Thank you for what you are doing, for defending Ukraine, for holding the line here. Please pass on my greetings to your brothers-in-arms, as well as to your families and loved ones. Thank you again for your service. We spoke with the commanders and will do everything to strengthen you. We are aware of the challenges you face,” said the Head of State.
