In Vilnius, at Rasos Cemetery, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska, together with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė, President of Poland Karol Nawrocki and First Lady Marta Nawrocka, as well as leader of the Belarusian democratic forces Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, honored the memory of those killed during the January Uprising of 1863–1864.
During the ceremony, a prayer was offered in honor of all those who lost their lives in the January Uprising. Their memory was also honored with a moment of silence.
The January Uprising was an uprising of the Ukrainian, Polish, Lithuanian, and Belarusian peoples against the Russian Empire and oppression. It began on January 22, 1863, and lasted until June 1864. Its motto was: “For our freedom and yours.”
