President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.
The leaders discussed cooperation under the Drone Deal format. Edgars Rinkēvičs praised the work of the Ukrainian expert team in Latvia. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine appreciates that and is always ready to help its friends with expertise in defense and battle-tested equipment.
The Head of State thanked Latvia for its recent decision to support the PURL initiative with a new contribution of €7 million. Latvia’s total support for PURL has now reached €24 million.
“This is extremely important for us – every contribution means more lives saved from Russian attacks. We also count on cooperation and the implementation of joint projects under SAFE,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Edgars Rinkēvičs congratulated Ukraine on the opening of the first negotiation cluster.
“Latvia's position is clear and principled: the remaining clusters should be opened as quickly as possible. And we hope our other partners will be just as principled,” the President of Ukraine noted.
The leaders also coordinated their positions regarding the NATO Summit and other partner-level engagements.
