In Davos, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first meeting with President of Switzerland Guy Parmelin.
The Head of State congratulated Guy Parmelin on his election to office and thanked Switzerland for its steadfast support for Ukraine since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression.
The Presidents discussed diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a dignified peace and the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia. Ukraine values Switzerland’s sanctions policy and expects more important decisions in the future.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed his counterpart on the situation in Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing attacks on energy facilities during this cold winter, as well as on the around-the-clock work of repair crews and energy specialists to restore electricity, heating, and water supply in Ukrainian cities and communities.
The President outlined the needs for supporting the energy sector and strengthening the air defense capabilities. The leaders also discussed the possibility of Switzerland making an additional contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
