In New York, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi.
The Head of State thanked Japan for its strong support throughout all these years of Russia’s war, including energy support packages, sanctions decisions, and humanitarian projects. Sanae Takaichi assured him that the assistance will continue.
The leaders discussed areas where Ukraine and Japan can help each other.
“Of course, Ukraine is ready to share its experience and technologies on a mutually beneficial basis. Japan also has advanced technologies for protecting lives, particularly in air defense, that could help Ukraine get through next winter if Russia once again spurns negotiations,” the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited Sanae Takaichi to visit Ukraine, including the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which Japan helped restore after a brutal Russian drone strike in June this year.
