Unblocking the €90 Billion Support Package, Ukraine’s EU Integration, and Strengthening Sanctions against Russia: Volodymyr Zelenskyy Held a Call with Ursula von Der Leyen

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

The main topic of discussion was the unblocking of the €90 billion support package for Ukraine.

“These funds will strengthen not only Ukraine but all of Europe, and it is important that we begin receiving them soon. All necessary steps on Ukraine’s side have been taken,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

The leaders also addressed other European issues. The President of Ukraine stressed that it is entirely fair to open negotiation clusters on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union, as technically the country is already fully prepared.

According to the Head of State, it is equally necessary to continue maintaining sanctions pressure on Russia. The President emphasized that Europe’s determination to adopt new sanctions steps is crucial, given the weakening of some existing restrictions.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ursula von der Leyen agreed to examine these matters in detail and coordinate next steps during an in-person meeting.
