President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of Panama José Raúl Mulino to discuss the importance of sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet.
The Head of State thanked Panama for supporting all pro-Ukrainian resolutions at the UN, as well as for supporting our people, especially children. Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed particular gratitude for the steps limiting the capabilities of Russia’s shadow fleet.
The President informed that Ukraine is already at the final stage of opening an embassy in Panama’s capital and noted the support of the Panamanian government in this process.
The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine is preparing a resolution condemning the abduction and deportation of children, urged Panama to support it, and invited the country to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about Russia’s crimes against children, in particular how Russians remove them from children’s homes in temporarily occupied territories and transfer them to the Russian Federation. He stressed that they are doing everything possible to erase the identity of young Ukrainians and force them to forget their native language.
Special attention was paid to the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia. José Raúl Mulino noted that Panama has already revoked the registration of more than two hundred Russian tankers, some of which are in poor condition and unsafe for operation.
The Head of State invited José Raúl Mulino to visit Ukraine.
