Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk took part in a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko. It was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Defense Intelligence, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the National Security and Defense Council, and the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
Key topics included the state of negotiations on prisoner-of-war exchanges and the return of civilians, in particular the implementation of agreements reached in Türkiye earlier this year.
Special attention was paid to improving the legal framework governing the activities of the Coordination Headquarters and organizing its regional offices.
A decision was made to establish separate working groups to enhance efforts regarding prisoners of war, repatriation of defenders’ bodies, as well as reintegration and post-isolation support for those released from captivity.
In addition, participants discussed practical steps to secure the return of civilian hostages illegally held in the Russian Federation and in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
