President of Ukraine

Speeches

Depending on the security situation and real diplomatic possibilities, the time and place of the next meeting of our team and the U.S. team – the meeting with the Russians – will be determined. Russia must end its aggression against us – against Ukraine and against all of Europe. And security must be guaranteed.

There are also many military aspects – tasks that must be implemented by the army and the Ministry of Defense. The formats tested recently have proven effective. When practically every strike and every impact was carefully analyzed, clear conclusions were drawn about what must change.

First of all, today we have reason to thank our air defense – good results, there were interceptions: more than 30 Russian missiles were shot down. Most of them targeted the energy sector specifically – we indeed managed to protect very important facilities.

In March, we will continue active diplomatic efforts – a lot is already planned. We will continue to strengthen Ukraine.

Today we spoke about continuing our joint work. We will work toward a new level of partnership – toward a strategic partnership between our countries.

It’s vital that we have started working on the details of a key geopolitical security guarantee for Ukraine and for all of Europe – a clear date for Ukraine’s accession to the EU. The year 2027 is very important for us and, I hope, doable, so that Putin cannot block our membership for decades.

Today we have the Coalition of the Willing, and we have 36 countries – 36 representatives, supporters who are around Ukraine and really against Russian aggression, so I'm very thankful for this support.

This is not the first time Ukraine has to defend itself from a Russian invasion. But it is the first time we have such a large coalition supporting Ukraine.

Today marks exactly four years since Putin started his three-day push to take Kyiv. And that, in fact, says a great deal about our resistance, about how Ukraine has fought all this time. Behind those words stand millions of our people. Behind those words stand immense courage, incredibly hard work, endurance, and the long path Ukraine has been pursuing since February 24.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, and the Security Service of Ukraine will present further details to the public. Today I also instructed that measures and response procedures be developed to prevent similar crimes. Our law enforcement agencies already have certain experience in countering this. Dozens of similar situations have been prevented. Ukrainian law enforcement officials constantly counter such recruitment efforts.
