During a working trip to the Sumy region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the presentation of the Regional Development Strategy for 2021-2027.
At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State noted that today Ukraine has to face many challenges, for which the country was largely unprepared. After all, for many years in a row, politicians have not been interested in building a powerful state.
"The legacy we have inherited forces us to work non-stop and almost without rest. At the very beginning of my path to the presidency, I said that we could change Ukraine only together with you. We really succeeded in many things. Even more should be done in the future," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
According to him, every citizen, every community, village and city should join the building of a happy Ukraine. Each region must become a driver of successful transformations.
To do this, the President is convinced, a clear and consistent action plan is needed. Ukraine's regional development strategies are exactly the plan.
"Your region has enough advantages to be the leader of the north of Ukraine. This is very fertile Chernozem, oil, gas and quartz sand reserves. It is a convenient location for transit, successful universities and research institutions, vocational education institutions. And also powerful industrial parks," the Head of State noted.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in order to maximize the potential of the Sumy region, among other things, it is necessary to solve infrastructural issues, in particular, to build high-quality local roads and establish railway passenger and air transportation.
"We are ready to fully support the reconstruction of Sumy Airport. We provide financing, you provide the project and the shortest terms of realization,” the President emphasized.
The Head of State also noted the sports potential of the Sumy region, in particular in winter sports. There are 13 ski bases in the region, and it is here that most Olympic champions and award-winners in winter sports were brought up.
