In Berlin, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz held an expanded-format meeting.
First and foremost, the Head of State expressed gratitude for supporting Ukraine and for organizing the online meeting of leaders and the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing to be held later today.
The President and the Chancellor exchanged details of their recent contacts with partners and outlined the main parameters for further discussions.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Friedrich Merz agreed that as long as Russia takes no steps toward peace, pressure on it must be maintained and the strengthening of Ukraine must continue.
The leaders discussed the possibility of increasing defense support, Germany’s participation in the new PURL initiative, and strengthening Ukraine's air defense with two additional Patriot systems and missiles for them.
The meeting also addressed reliable security guarantees, with key elements including a strong Ukrainian army and membership in the EU.
