The OECD Working Group on Bribery has invited Ukraine to join the Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions and become a full member of the Working Group.
The partners noted Ukraine’s significant progress in combating corruption and implementing the necessary anti-corruption mechanisms. Our country is also ready to amend its legislation to ensure full compliance with the Convention.
Earlier, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra held a meeting dedicated to developing proposals regarding Ukraine’s participation in the OECD Working Group. The participants reviewed the work done and coordinated the positions of all government bodies.
Iryna Mudra emphasized that cooperation between Ukraine and the OECD is of great importance to our country. Joining the Convention will expand international cooperation in investigating corruption offenses, strengthen Ukraine’s reputation as a reliable partner, and help attract investment.
In addition, Ukraine aims for full OECD membership and is preparing to submit the corresponding application. The OECD currently brings together 38 of the world’s leading economies. The organization already provides Ukraine with expert support and analytical assistance, and accession will help build investor confidence while advancing international standards of governance and transparency.
