Ukraine will continue supporting Moldova to prevent an energy crisis and counter pressure from Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a joint press conference of the participants in the Ukraine – Southeast Europe Summit in Odesa.
The Head of State stressed that Ukraine was ready to assist Moldova to ensure that Russia could not use energy blackmail as a tool of pressure against the country and President Maia Sandu.
“We understood that these were artificial steps by the Russian Federation. That’s why the steps to prevent them were clear. It’s not easy, but we are standing alongside Moldova and will continue to do so, no matter how difficult it is for us. We will keep doing everything we can to minimize the risks there,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
Maia Sandu added that Moldova is working with institutions in Ukraine and Romania to counter Russian hybrid threats. According to her, this cooperation helps prevent attempts by Russia to destabilize the political situation in the country.
