Ukraine and Bulgaria Signed a Security Cooperation Agreement

In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Bulgaria Andrey Gurov signed a Security Cooperation Agreement for at least ten years.

The agreement stipulates that Bulgaria will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine and develop defense-industrial cooperation. Bulgaria is interested in co-producing drones and ammunition under the SAFE program. Joint production facilities will be established in both Ukraine and Bulgaria, and joint training exercises will also be conducted.

Ukraine and Bulgaria will cooperate in intelligence and security, countering hybrid threats and disinformation, and strengthening security in the Black Sea region.

Particular attention is given to energy security. The countries will work to ensure that the energy corridor becomes fully operational.

The countries will also cooperate on sanctions policy, humanitarian efforts, and the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Bulgaria also reaffirms its support for Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the achievement of a dignified peace, the importance of international initiatives – in particular the Coalition of the Willing – and the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.

In total, Ukraine has already concluded 29 bilateral security agreements within the framework of the G7 Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine, adopted in Vilnius in July 2023: with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the United States, the European Union, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ireland, Greece, Albania, and Bulgaria.
