In Oslo, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre took the first step toward a Drone Deal and signed the Joint Declaration on Enhanced Defense and Security Cooperation.
The document sets out key areas of cooperation, in particular, strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. This will be ensured through Norwegian military assistance and the development of a technology partnership. Priorities include air defense, unmanned systems, electronic warfare, maritime security, logistics, and sustainment.
Ukraine and Norway will foster joint production and co-development, exchange technologies, and scale up their production capacities. The document also provides for support to Ukraine’s drone industry.
A particular focus is the creation of integrated multi-layer air and missile defense systems. The leaders agreed to engage partners in order to jointly increase the production of air defense missiles.
