President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to impose sanctions on individuals and companies involved in the illegal export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on vessels used for this purpose.
The sanctions package includes 13 seagoing vessels sailing under the flags of Russia – eight vessels, Panama – three, and Belize and Saint Kitts and Nevis – one each, as well as 11 Russian nationals and 28 legal entities.
All of them are involved in the illegal export of Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Sanctions have also been imposed on the owners and captains of these vessels and on companies involved in the export of our grain.
Ukraine will provide its partners with all the necessary information to synchronize sanctions across international jurisdictions.
“The illegal export of Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied territories must have consequences for everyone involved – from companies and owners to captains and vessels. We expect our international partners to prevent this grain from entering their markets,” said Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Advisor – Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Sanctions Policy.
