At the 42nd General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Olena Kovalska, acting on behalf of the President of Ukraine, presented state awards to representatives of Ukrainian sport.
“Our athletes today are not just competing. You raise the flag of Ukraine so that it is seen and respected. And every start, every medal is another reminder to the world of who we are – and that no enemy can change this,” the Deputy Head of the Office of the President said.
Olympic champion, multiple world and European champion in athletics, and world record holder in the high jump Yaroslava Mahuchikh was awarded the President’s distinction “National Legend of Ukraine.”
Two-time Olympic champion Valeriy Borzov was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, III class, while Olympic and world champion Grigory Kriss received the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, IV class.
Representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine were also awarded the Orders of Merit, I–III classes, the Orders of Princess Olga, I class, as well as medals.
