There Have Been Air Raid Alerts and Strikes All Day Long, with “Shaheds” in the Skies. The U.S. Certainly Has the Strength and the Capabilities to Ensure Silence – Address by the President

Fellow Ukrainians!

I held a meeting of the Staff today. There was an important report on the situation on the front line. We continue our active defense and are gradually pushing the occupiers back. Russian losses have increased in recent months. In the Dobropillia area alone, the Russians are losing around 200 troops killed every day. They also have many badly wounded. We are stopping every enemy attempt to advance or infiltrate – we are doing everything to ensure that. I thank all units, all our brigades that fully carry out their combat missions and use their weapons as effectively as possible. Ukraine's frontline positions remain strong, and this year they are the strongest they have been in a long time. Even though the Russians outnumber us by a factor of six to eight in some areas of the front, we are still achieving the results Ukraine needs.

For this, I want to give special recognition to the warriors of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine, the 1st Presidential Brigade “Bureviy,” as well as our 95th Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces, the 413th Regiment “Raid” of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 104th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the “Phoenix” Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Thank you and everyone who fights for Ukraine as they would for themselves.

Today, once again, there was a lot of communication with partners. I spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Together with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Prime Ministers of Norway and Lithuania, we took part in the Warsaw Security Forum. Everyone’s positions are absolutely clear. Ukraine must be supported, and Russia must not be given a chance to break us – our country, our people, and therefore Europe as well. I thank all the leaders and all the nations for their support. Most importantly, there will be decisions, there will be packages that will help us – our defense, our protection.

We continue entirely constructive discussions with the U.S. President’s team. Our negotiating team is in contact with them virtually every day. Everyone in America knows our position, and many support that very position – that everything must be fair. Ukraine is ready for an energy ceasefire, and we are the ones who have repeatedly proposed such a ceasefire. Russia must take its own steps toward “silence.” Right now, there have been air raid alerts and strikes all day long, with “shaheds” in the skies. The United States certainly has the strength and the capabilities to ensure “silence” – real and reliable de-escalation. A real and reliable halt to Russia. There must be real progress toward this. Thank you to everyone standing with us, with Ukraine! Thank you to everyone holding their ground!

Glory to Ukraine!
