Fellow Ukrainians!
Today, there was a report from the Commander-in-Chief and the Security Service of Ukraine about Ukrainian deep strikes in response to Russian attacks. We are preparing our steps – new steps. We had a detailed discussion with the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the diplomatic team about activities planned for September. A lot is planned, and all our meetings and negotiations must be felt here in Ukraine – in our defense capabilities and through additional energy support packages for Ukraine. At the political level, we already have quite specific agreements with leaders, and these now need to be implemented at the level of our countries’ ministries and companies. This concerns Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Norway, and the United States. We have significant agreements with France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and with our other key partners. We need a clear audit of what has already been agreed at the political level but has still not been implemented in practice. Every ministry must provide a report on this, and this also applies to state-owned companies, above all energy companies. Ahead of winter, support must be mobilized to the fullest extent possible. Today, there is also a decision by the National Security and Defense Council regarding resilience plans for regions and communities. The NSDC is conducting a very clear analysis of which tasks are not being completed on time by which regions and cities, and for every such area there are clear NSDC requirements as to what must be done.
We have just spoken with envoys of the U.S. President – Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. They are preparing for meetings and corresponding communication with the Russian side, as well as for a visit to Ukraine. We discussed our positions. I briefed Steve and Jared on changes in the situation here in Ukraine – both on the front and with regard to Russian attacks. We discussed what can be done to encourage Russia to move toward ending the war. There needs to be the right mindset in Moscow – from Putin, a mindset to end the war, not to keep fighting. For now, unfortunately, all the intel – both ours and our partners’ – and all the signals from Russia indicate that the Russian leader personally wants more war. Even now, when the absolute majority of his own society, by the way, would agree to stop the war along the line of contact. We will see what the U.S. President’s envoys can accomplish. September can change a lot, and together with our partners, we must do everything possible to protect people, protect lives, and achieve peace. I want to thank everyone who stands with Ukraine!
