In Munich, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was presented with the Ewald von Kleist Award, which this year the organizers of the Munich Security Conference awarded to the brave Ukrainian people.
The Head of State thanked them for the award for the Ukrainian people, which is at the same time an award recognizing Ukrainian strength and Ukraine’s friendship with its partners.
“That’s why Ukraine works so hard to build at least mutual understanding, mutual respect, and fair treatment with everyone. At the very least. And even better – true friendship. Today, I want to thank you in that same friendly way, all the leaders without whom this day, and the strength we have today, simply would not be possible,” the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed special gratitude to each of the leaders in the United States, Europe, and Canada who support Ukraine during this war against Russian aggression and help Ukrainians endure.
“In Ukraine – when I say these names – people know exactly who I mean and what stands behind each name – what has been done, what can still be done, and what we are already thankful for – or will be. It is not by chance that Ukrainians know European leaders by their first names – and that I can speak to them the same way. This shows how close we are, how many real friendships we have built, and how much we are going through shoulder to shoulder,” the Head of State emphasized.
The President thanked everyone who stands with Ukraine and works to end this war and achieve real peace. He also expressed gratitude for respect toward all Ukrainians.
The Ewald von Kleist Award is an annual distinction presented by the organizers of the Munich Security Conference since 2009 for outstanding contributions to the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
