President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark Mette Frederiksen arrived in our country on a visit.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the head of the Danish government for helping Ukraine protect the lives of our people. He reminded that he recently visited Denmark, together with the First Lady of Ukraine, and today Frederiksen and her husband arrived in our country and are participating in the third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen.
"It is very valuable when there are different directions (of cooperation) between our states – defense, political, there is economic cooperation and there is a humanitarian issue. I am grateful for all the manifestations of our cooperation to you personally, Mette, and to all of Denmark," Zelenskyy said at a meeting with media representatives, jointly with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, following the negotiations in Kyiv.
The President said that Denmark has already provided defense support to Ukraine worth over $1.6 billion, and today, the parties discussed the new, 12th defense package, being prepared for the current month.
"The training of our Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 continues in Denmark. The Ukrainian military has the task of preparing the necessary infrastructure in our country as soon as possible. This is one of the key tasks the defense forces must now complete. Of course, with the support of our partners," the Head of State said.
During the negotiations, the interlocutors paid attention to expanding opportunities for training and acceleration of the real integration of modern fighters into Ukraine's defense system. The first meeting of the working group of the aircraft coalition was held with the participation of a representative of Ukraine.
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation in demining.
"Regarding the localization of the production of demining machines – I also raised the issue today. Perhaps we will be able to work in this direction with Danish companies," Zelenskyy said.
He also invited Denmark and Danish companies to participate in the Defense Industries Forum, which will take place in Ukraine this autumn.
"The security of all of us, of all of Europe, will largely depend on how powerful our cooperation will be," the Head of State said.
Zelenskyy also briefed Frederiksen on the situation on the battlefield and Russia's constant missile attacks, in particular, on agricultural and port infrastructure in the southern regions of Ukraine.
"We discussed how we can defend our ports, defend the ability to operate the corridor of life – the grain corridor," Zelenskyy said.
The President also thanked Denmark for implementing projects in Mykolaiv region. He noted that soon the office of the Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine will open in Mykolaiv.
"This is an extremely important example. A real model of how solidarity can work for the restoration of normal life, for the protection of people. I thank you, Mette, and all the people of Denmark for this leadership," the Head of State said.
