Dear Madam Prime Minister,
On January 10, 2017 Ukraine and the United Kingdom mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. On behalf of the Ukrainian people and on my own behalf, I would like to take this opportunity to express the warmest congratulations to you and all the Britons.
I am happy that over a quarter of century the United Kingdom has been at the forefront of supporting Ukraine, our democratic and European reforms. We are also grateful for the strong and consistent support of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. I hope that the United Kingdom as party to the Budapest Memorandum will continue exerting its influence to strengthen the Normandy format.
25 years ago, we both agreed to build a new chapter in our relations with a common resolve to explore their full potential, and I am resolute to work with you on realizing our common goals. In this regard, it would be a great pleasure for me to welcome you in Kyiv to exchange views on further development of the Ukrainian- British relationship.
Looking forward to meeting you in person I would like to wish you every success in your endeavours and important work at this crucial juncture in Britain’s history and I wish the British people peace and prosperity.
The Right Honourable Theresa May, MP
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
