President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with the head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Hnatov, had a long and substantive phone call with representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump’s team, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The parties covered multiple aspects and went through key points that could ensure an end to the bloodshed and eliminate the threat of a third Russian invasion, as well as the risk of Russia failing to honor its promises, as it has done repeatedly in the past.
The President emphasized that Ukraine is determined to keep working in good faith with the American side to genuinely achieve peace.
The interlocutors agreed on the next steps and formats for talks with the United States. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Donald Trump for such an intensive approach to negotiations.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy is awaiting Rustem Umerov and Andriy Hnatov with a detailed report. It is necessary to work closely with the teams on ideas and proposals.
“Our approach is that everything must be workable – every crucial measure for peace, security, and reconstruction,” the Head of State said.
