Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Edgars Rinkēvičs Discussed Diplomatic Efforts to Achieve Peace and Support for Ukraine on Its Path to EU Membership

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

The Head of State informed Edgars Rinkēvičs about his contacts with partners and the current diplomatic situation. Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared his vision of the steps needed to achieve a reliable peace.

The two Presidents share the view that peace can be achieved through U.S. support and European unity. They agreed to coordinate their efforts.

The leaders also discussed Ukraine’s European integration path. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that our country has fulfilled all necessary requirements. Therefore, it would be fair and just to open the first negotiating cluster for Ukraine and Moldova simultaneously. Edgars Rinkēvičs reaffirmed that Latvia fully supports Ukraine’s membership in both the EU and NATO.

The Presidents also discussed the new PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) instrument for procuring U.S. weapons, which is already operational. Edgars Rinkēvičs said that Latvia is ready to join.

The Head of State invited the President of Latvia to visit Ukraine.
