Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Friedrich Merz Meet with Representatives of the German Business Community

In Berlin, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz met with representatives of the German business community to discuss expanding cooperation.

The Head of State thanked German businessmen for continuing their operations in Ukraine during the full-scale war.

The President emphasized that economic support for Ukraine during Russian aggression is important and called on German businesses to expand their presence in our country, particularly by implementing investment projects.

The German companies noted the work of the Council for Entrepreneurship Support in the Conditions of Martial Law, which helps foreign investors overcome the challenges caused by the full-scale war.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy pointed out that today, the governments of Ukraine and Germany signed three documents on expanding cooperation in the defense sector. According to him, it is important that German companies establish cooperation with Ukrainian enterprises in various industries.

Significant attention was given to cooperation in the medical sector. The meeting was attended by representatives of companies already operating in Ukraine and engaged in prosthetics. The President thanked them for helping Ukrainian warriors recover and emphasized that this work should not only continue but be scaled up.

The meeting also covered the participation of German businesses in Ukraine’s post-war recovery, specific investment areas, and preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held on July 10–11 in Rome.

Separate attention was given to continuing support for Ukraine’s energy sector. The Head of State emphasized the importance of maintaining German leadership in this area. Cooperation in agriculture was also discussed.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Bayer AG, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA), NOTUS energy GmbH, Ottobock SE & Co. KGaA, Siemens Healthineers AG, KfW Bankengruppe, Siemens Energy AG, and Henkel AG & Co. KGaA.
