Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kaja Kallas Discussed Strengthening Sanctions Against Russia, Financial Assistance for Ukraine, and Support on the Path to the European Union

In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

The Head of State thanked Kaja Kallas for her visit to Ukraine on the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Bucha from Russian occupiers and for her support for Ukrainians throughout all years of Russian aggression. The President awarded the EU High Representative the Order of Princess Olga, I class.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kaja Kallas discussed possible solutions to help unblock EUR 90 billion in financial support for Ukraine. The President stressed that these funds are critically important and serve as a financial security guarantee not only for Ukraine but for all of Europe.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening sanctions against Russia, including the swift adoption of the EU’s 20th sanctions package. The President noted that maximum efforts are needed to unblock this package, especially in light of the partial easing of sanctions on Russian oil.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kaja Kallas also discussed in detail support for Ukraine’s European integration and the importance of opening negotiation clusters.

The President also informed her about the results of his visit to countries in the Middle East and about important defense agreements concluded with partners in the region.
