In London, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer.
The Head of State thanked the United Kingdom for its steadfast support in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression, including the recent joint statement by leaders on peace for Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed the Prime Minister about the consequences of Russia’s deliberate strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian facilities. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom expressed his condolences over the deaths of Ukrainians.
The leaders devoted special attention to the development of joint defense production. The President presented the OCTOPUS interceptor drone developed by the Ukrainian military. The United Kingdom will produce these drones for further testing in Ukraine. After the tests, the United Kingdom is ready to scale up production both domestically and in Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited the United Kingdom to join the PURL initiative.
The parties also discussed strengthening sanctions policy to push Russia toward genuine negotiations. The Head of State emphasized the importance of the recent British sanctions package targeting Russia’s oil sector and shadow fleet, as well as the sanctions imposed by the United States and the 19th EU sanctions package. Keir Starmer noted that there are further opportunities to increase pressure on Russia’s oil and gas industries.
