Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kristalina Georgieva Discussed Continued Financial Support for Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva to discuss the continuation of financial support for Ukraine.

The Head of State informed her about his recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders, the ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a swift end to the war and the next joint steps with Ukraine’s partners. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is doing everything possible to achieve a just and lasting peace this year.

The President thanked the IMF for its financial support and noted that Ukraine looks forward to continued cooperation.

Kristalina Georgieva expressed her condolences over the recent Russian attacks on Ukraine, including the shelling of Kyiv, and praised the resilience of Ukrainians in the face of Russian aggression.

She specifically emphasized that, despite the war, Ukraine is fulfilling its obligations to the IMF and implementing necessary reforms.

The parties discussed a new financial assistance program that would strengthen Ukraine both now and in the post-war period. The President noted that Ukraine is ready to move quickly on all necessary steps and added that the government is already working on it.

They also discussed additional funding for Ukrainian warriors and agreed to explore possible solutions.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kristalina Georgieva also agreed to hold an in-person meeting.
