President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani.
They discussed the global consequences of Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, in particular its impact on global fuel, gas, and fertilizer markets. The Head of State stressed that the blockade creates new challenges, and that Ukraine is offering partners its unique expertise to help address them. According to the President, Ukraine values Europe’s recognition of its contribution.
Particular attention was given to countering Russian propaganda and the inadmissibility of its spread in European countries. The Head of State stressed that Russia is trying to use every opportunity and every international platform to whitewash its aggression. The President is convinced that this must not be allowed.
The meeting also addressed the steps needed to unblock the negotiation clusters for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the continued blocking of important EU decisions on assistance to Ukraine by a single country is unfair and unacceptable.
In addition, the parties discussed the development of cooperation between the state institutions of Ukraine and Italy.
