President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Speaker of the Folketing of Denmark Søren Gade, who came to our country to once again demonstrate support for Ukraine.
The Head of State thanked him for Denmark’s strong and consistent support for our state, provided since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion not only by the Danish government and parliament, but by all the Danish people.
The President spoke about the massive attacks on Kyiv and all other cities and communities across different regions, as well as the consequences of these terrorist strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, educational institutions, gas stations, warehouses containing medicines and food, and residential buildings. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this is undoubtedly an escalation. Søren Gade expressed his condolences over these Russian attacks. He underscored that it is critically important to step up support for Ukraine.
“Of course, you are fighting for Ukraine’s freedom, and we support that, but this is also a fight for our freedom. Defeat here is unacceptable, because who will be next? That is why, in my view, many countries should step up and realize that the time has come to act decisively,” the Speaker of the Folketing of Denmark said.
The meeting also covered financial contributions to Ukraine’s defense production and direct defense assistance, first and foremost air defenses to protect against jet-powered drones and ballistic missiles. They also discussed opportunities under the European SAFE instrument that Ukraine and Denmark can pursue together to strengthen their shared security. Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude for the readiness to help in all these areas.
