Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Andrej Plenković Discussed U.S. Weapons Procurement for Ukraine and the Potential of the SAFE Instrument

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković.

The Head of State congratulated Andrej Plenković and the Croatian people on Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed his counterpart about the situation on the frontline and the intensification of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.

The President spoke about cooperation with partners to strengthen Ukrainian warriors, particularly the new PURL instrument for procuring U.S. weapons. The Head of State noted that the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have already committed over $1 billion.

The leaders also discussed the SAFE mechanism and the opportunities it provides for bolstering the defense capabilities of both EU countries and Ukraine. Andrej Plenković noted that Croatia will contribute its share to support Ukrainian defenders.

The President and the Prime Minister coordinated their next steps and diplomatic efforts for the near future.
