President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with President of the European Council António Costa.
The Head of State thanked António Costa for his clear and principled stance in condemning Russian strikes against our people and for his condolences. The President of Ukraine noted that in recent days alone, the Russians have killed 78 people and injured 215 in strikes on Pryluky, Kramatorsk, Kyiv, and other Ukrainian cities.
“This is a brutal Russian escalation – terror against people and life. And it is important that leaders do not ignore what is happening,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The Head of State expressed gratitude for the €1.2 billion tranche received recently. These funds will be used for defense, including drones. Work is ongoing to secure other necessary decisions as well.
The parties discussed the timeline for opening the next negotiating clusters, the winter energy package, and further financial support. The leaders agreed to hold a trilateral meeting with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in the near future.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also briefed António Costa on contacts and meetings with the American side scheduled for the coming days. The Ukrainian team is already on its way.
